Hi, I've been on the net trying to locate a 'Kitty in the Keg'. I'm from Australia and I'm trying to find a supplier/retailer. Is the one in the photo an old one or have you recently purchased it. Thanks Aneesa Posted by: ANEESA at July 10, 2005 8:50 PM
Hello fellow searcher for Kittie In The Kegs. I have been looking for another set myself for years. The one I have was my own toy from the 1950's, and I have had to Crazy Glue the cracks. I use it for an evaluation and treatment tool in my work with children. It is a Child Guidance Toy (the company name), and I have seen two newer generations manufactured over time, each successively inferior to the original. The original is a nice hard plastic with precision threading. The next generation was made with a softter plastic that did not slide smoothly when twisted, making it frustrating for children. The last set I saw had no threading at all, allowing for the simplest push/pull hand motion to open and close the pieces, no longer providing the crucial developmental challenge of a two-handed twisting motion. The more recent version may still be made, I haven't seen them recently. I am happy to not be the only person looking for this wonderful manipulative. Hi, gr8 post thanks for posting. Information is useful! Posted by: KattyBlackyard at June 15, 2009 3:32 AM
I have one from my childhood that I only recently retrieved back from my grandmother who had been keeping it along with several other things from my childhood. Hope you are able to find one that someone is willing to part with. I am unable to give up such a wonderful childhood momento. I have the older one that has good threading. Goodluck in your search. Hi, I too have one of these toys from my childhood, but mine is called "Billy and his Barrels". If anyone can help, I am looking for a replacement of the small barrel half that contains Billy as I would like a full set. Good luck in your search. Posted by: Katherine at August 3, 2009 12:38 AM
Over 4 years?!? This is nuts. What an epic toy! Posted by: Krazy Kemble at August 3, 2009 11:50 PM
I too have been looking for a set. I enjoyed playing with this at my grandmothers. When she passed that was the main toy I kept. Well after my daughter played with it the last two are gone now. Yes the precious kitty is missing. I agree that this is the best made plastic. I have bought others but they are not the same. I too would like a complete set. I have found the "billy" set on e-bay and a different color kitty in the keg. Posted by: Kim Scott at August 30, 2009 8:05 PM
I picked a set up at a rummage sale today(5 cents!!)...no kitty :( What did she look like?? Posted by: Lori at September 18, 2009 4:09 PM
How many barrels are you suppose to have? I think I'm missing 1. Posted by: Rick at October 24, 2009 7:17 PM
Hi. My daughter was born in 1969, and played with Kitty in the Keg (hard plastic, threaded) for years. She loved it, I loved it. She had many fun and educational hours learning fine motor skills, colors, stacking, etc. She still remembers them. My grandchild's birthday is coming up, and I'd like to get her a set. I looked on eBay, and started a search; I'm amazed that my daughter's favorite toy is now vintage and hard to find! Anyone know of any, or have any ideas? Thanks! My mother brought this to my 3 year old from our old toys. I'd forgotten about it. Great toy. I too am missing the kitty. One of the barrels has a chip out of it and one is cracked. He still plays with it constantly. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled at garage sales. If I find a lead on them, I'll post. Posted by: Heather at November 11, 2009 9:11 PM

I have an original Kitty in the Keg that I am sure was made in the 50's. It is complete and in pretty good shape. I was wondering if it was worth anything as an antique toy--or is it not old enough yet? Let me know if any of you do. Thanks! Posted by: Judy Kress at April 5, 2010 4:30 PM
I have just got down from the loft Billy & his barrels but found billy missing this was a set I bought in 1982. it is the slide on ones. I also had the screw ones for my son in 1977. Harder to play with and not so popular. Posted by: lucy middleton at May 27, 2010 1:14 PM
I have the original Kitty in the Keg. It was made in the 1950's. It belonged to my youngest brother. My mom kept it all these years. Been looking for another one for my grand-nephew because I can't part with the one I have. Posted by: nancy at July 3, 2010 12:47 PM

I've just come across Billie and His Seven Barrels at an autism assessment with my son and am desperately trying to get hold of a set. Anyone know of any for sale or where I can get a set? Posted by: Sue at June 27, 2011 7:27 PM
