Finally.

It only took three decades or so, but I ended up with something really cool to push around in my wheelbarrow. The two pictures on the left are of me when I was just a little guy -- the one on the right is of me and Luke from earlier this summer. The wheelbarrow was made by my hero and the man I want to be like when I grow up: Grandaddy. (Here he is with me in the very beginning.) My mom had the foresight to keep not only the wheelbarrow around, but also the blueprints that Grandaddy drew up to build it!
I love this wheelbarrow. I love that Luke and Silas get to play with it. He passed away a while ago, but I love my Grandaddy still. I can't wait for him to meet my boys.

If you're going to post such gosh-awfully sweet stories, the least you could do is post a box of Cyber Kleenex to go with. Sniff. Sniff.
Posted by: Abigail at September 26, 2005 04:21 AMI can't stand this - it makes me cry-so why do i keep reading it over and over - Daddy loved you too ,Beau, and he will love your boys-The good news is that God had the love and foresight to prepare a place where we can all meet up!
Posted by: mother at September 26, 2005 09:15 AMWell, that is the cutest thing ever. That is 2 Teague web sites in 2 hours that have brought tears!
Posted by: Chrsity Wright at September 26, 2005 09:44 AMGood grief. You've got women all over the world crying now. Thank you for posting this. I don't recall having ever seen that blueprint before. What a treasure.
Posted by: Tiffany at September 26, 2005 06:08 PMAfter reading and viewing such a beautiful tribute to your granfather, I have a hard time believing that there were only 4 previous comments on this well-composed piece. As I read it, I was thinking of what a nice Master Card commercial it would make: Paper for blueprints - $12, Wood - $85, paint - $37.50, irreplaceable relationship and special vantage point from which he is watching your sweet boys and his great-grandboys enjoy his wheelbarrow - priceless.
Posted by: Vicki (neighbor) at September 27, 2005 08:12 PMThe perfect tribute to Grandaddy. My only question is this: The room that you're pushing the wheelbarrow through years ago, Beau, was considered a virtual "Holy of Holies" and we weren't allowed to even step a foot inside those glass doors -- much less run through that parlor will a wheelbarrow . . . while having our picture taken!! That must have been the security camera in there that we didn't know about that took the picture, correct?
Posted by: Josh T. at October 2, 2005 11:31 AMI think Josh may have got this wrong. Looking at young Beau on those photos makes me think that there were no other little Teagues at the time (maybe a Tiffany, but that's it). So I suspect the reason that this became the holy of holies is probably because of the "wheelbarrow incident" documented here.
